Be a Volunteer

Volunteers come from all walks of life, all age groups, and for all reasons.  What unites them is not their “expertise” in working with people with disabilities, but their desire to make a meaningful, valued, and lasting contribution.  Redwood strives to make this possible by tailoring volunteer opportunities to meet this desire.  Volunteers may opt to work one-on-one with clients over the course of several months or work with other volunteers to provide a one-day-only group activity.  Some volunteers instead choose to provide administrative support or donate a specific skill set, such as accounting, landscaping, or marketing, to Redwood.  Finally, there are those who coordinate fundraisers or throw parties to collect silent and live auction items for Redwood’s special events.  Opportunities abound and are flexible enough to meet the requests of most volunteers.  Volunteers can help by:

  • Serving on a Redwood committee
  • Creating, implementing, and recruiting members for a YP group
  • Hosting gift-gathering parties or other fundraisers to support Redwood
  • Mentoring children/adults with special needs during their daily activities
  • Organizing art projects, obstacle courses, or treasure hunts for clients
  • Planning a themed client parade along Redwood’s Walk & Roll Path
  • Assisting with landscaping, washing vehicles, or cleaning the building;

Volunteer Applications are available for download here.  Interested individual are encouraged to first attend Volunteer Orientation on Monday's at 3:30pm.  This is an opportunity to see first hand what Redwood is all about, ensuring it's a perfect match for your interests and our needs.
