Work Activity Center

Redwood’s Work Activity Center works hand in hand with community businesses to provide subcontract jobs, helping teach and develop work skills. The program offers a comprehensive mix of vocational training to help adults with disabilities prosper through the power of work.

The Work Activity Center is designed to teach marketable job skills any employer would expect, including clocking in/out and time management, following basic to multi-step instructions, taking responsibility, good decision making skills, appropriate workplace social skills and effective communication skills. Each adult in the program is assigned to a specific Production Trainer to guide and supervise the development of job skills and track progress.

Redwood operates under a Special Minimum Wage Certificate, following all the guidelines and regulations under the U.S. Department of Labor. Adults who participate in the Work Activity Center are paid on what is commonly known as a "piece rate," for the work in which they produce or create.

To supplement their vocational training, Redwood offers various classes and social groups on topics such as men's or women's health and wellness issues, current events around the world, basic reading, basic math and more.

Adults of the Work Activity Center also participate in community outing events each month as well as community service projects, twice a month. Redwood adults truly enjoy the act of giving back to the community that has been so supportive to them.

The Work Activity Center hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
