Redwood Employees Honored for Exemplary Service

Staff recognized for statewide honor, peer-nominated award and years of service

Four Redwood team members have recently been honored for their remarkable achievements serving clients.

Jill Strange holds her award for Direct Support Provider of the YearJill Strange, the Team Lead for Redwood’s Life Skills 3 program in Adult Services, was recently named as the Kentucky Association of Private Providers (KAPP) 2021 regional winner of “Direct Support Provider of the Year.” Jill received this prestigious professional honor because of her tireless dedication to the clients she works with, including going above and beyond to help her program navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jarod Iles, Redwood’s School-Age Mentor for Children’s Services, received the Jan Schaffer award. Named in honor of Jan Schaffer, Redwood’s first nurse, the award is given to an employee whose peers feel exemplifies “outstanding dedication, competence, and exceptional performance to advance Redwood’s mission.” When the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact Redwood and its clients, Jarod made goody bags for the kids and dropped them off at their houses. His ability to create meaningful connections with Redwood’s clients and to go above and beyond for them earned him the votes of his peers to receive this award.

Linda Hartman, Assistant Caregiver for Children’s Services, and Chris Wilson, Substitute Nurse, were recognized for 25 years of service with Redwood. Each had a tree planted in their honor in the Grove at Redwood during a planting ceremony that became an official event in 2015. Trees are also planted around the property in recognition of donors, client memorials and other staff-related events.

“We are thrilled to recognize and honor our colleagues who continue to showcase their dedication to Redwood and those we serve,” said Sharon Fusco, Chief Executive Officer for Redwood. “Jill, Jarod, Linda and Chris exemplify the compassionate, devoted individuals that work day in and day out to make Redwood and its clients successful.”

Since our founding in 1953, Redwood has guided children and adults with multiple and severe disabilities to achieve independence and reach their highest potential throughout their lives, by providing enriching educational, therapeutic and vocational services. We wouldn’t be able to help those we do without the dedication of our employees.

Congratulations on your awards, Jill, Jarod, Linda and Chris!
