Children with complex medical needs receive specialized health care by classroom-based registered nurses, based on physician's orders. Nurses detect and address medical issues, collaborate with other health care professionals, respond to medical emergencies, and maintain close communication with the family and physician.
In addition to stabilizing the child's medical condition through pediatricians and onsite registered nurses, PPEC staff also strive to meet each child's unique medical, developmental, physical, nutritional, and social needs. Medicaid may pay fees for eligible children, provided parents are working or attending school.
PPEC hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Children receive developmental stimulation as they participate in a natural flow of play, quality early learning experiences, and nurturing interactions integrated into the health care day. The use of a nationally-recognized curriculum in our Nursery, Toddler, and Preschool classrooms fosters the development of language, social-emotional, and physical skills.
Children make developmental gains and achieve learning objectives through onsite occupational, physical, and speech therapy, assistive technology, early intervention, and preschool education services. Children have countless opportunities to make friends through play and interactions with typical peers. PPEC benefits also benefits the whole family through parent education, resource programs, and services for siblings in the childcare center. Supportive services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or by apopintment.
